$1.1 Billion BTC Transaction Charged Only For $0.68 On Bitfinex

A 161,500 Bitcoin (BTC) transaction (worth more than $1.1 billion) was transferred on April 10 on Bitfinex with a fee charged only for 0.00010019 BTC (worth approx. $0.68).

This officially signifies Bitfinex’s largest Bitcoin transaction till date in terms of total valuation of US dollars.

The transaction was first brought to light by Twitter user, KRMA_0:

Responding to the tweet was none other than Paolo Ardoino, the CTO of Bitfinex himself claiming that the exchange was responsible through refilling its hot address:


Yep, we refilled hot wallet with 15k, rest went back to original address — Paolo Ardoino (@paoloardoino) April 10, 2020

The transaction details on how 15,000 BTC was sent over to a wallet while the remaining 146,500 BTC was returned to that of the original address.

In a similar scenario, the last time someone moved over a billion dollars BTC was on September 6, 2019. The transaction recorded a 94,504 BTC transaction ($1.018 billion at the time), transferred at a mere fee for $700.

However, the largest amount of cryptocurrency transaction occurred on November 16, 2011 worth ($1.32 million at the time). The same amount could be liquidated for approximately $3.5 billion today.
