Atari, the gaming giant, has released 2600 nonfungible token (NFT) collections to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
It has been reported that the unique NFT collection is a collaboration with the hugely popular artist Butcher Billy, famous for his work in Stranger Things, Marvel, and more. In total, there are 2600 NFTs based on fifteen original works by the artist in the Atari X collection.
However, Atari is also announcing a 1-888 interactive hotline and metaverse experience, available to everyone, whether they hold an Atari NFT or not. The NFT collection by Atari is the latest move by the company as it continues to build a blockchain ecosystem within web3. The company announced plans for an interactive museum experience game in June to celebrate 50 wonderful years in the gaming industry.
The report said that the new Atari NFT collection will launch in September and consists of 2600 NFTs. There will be a public whitelist to secure an NFT, and more information will come soon. Furthermore, Atari has previously released an NFT collection in 2021 and created a loot box NFT collection this year.
Likewise, until the NFT collection is confirmed, there is ‘Room 133’, accessible through 888atari50.com. This wonderful metaverse experience resembles a classified engineering room from the original Atara headquarters in Sunnyvale, California. Room 133 offers a fully immersive and explorable virtual environment that provides perks and access to unique experiences.
Users can find clues and easter eggs about the upcoming project and future Atari collaborations. The website has a free interactive hotline, 1-888-ATARI50. By calling this number, you can find out how to navigate Room 133. Room 133 also confirms industry partnerships for Atari in the web3 world. An image on the website lists several companies as partners. This list includes Animoca Brands, Nifty Labs, The Sandbox, Unstoppable Domains, RTFKT, and others.
Atari is embarking on a hugely creative NFT project in collaboration with Butcher Billy. The Brazilian graphic artist has become a massive name in the industry over the last decade. He has a distinctive and recognizable tone. His style is a blend of pop culture that crosses reality and fiction, using contemporary pop art.
Thus, Tyler Drewitz, the Director of Atari X, said:
“The collaboration with Butcher Billy is incredibly exciting for Atari and is a great kick-off to what will be a busy few months for Atari X. Butcher Billy has a passion for Atari that matches our own, and his work will connect with our community of fans and enthusiasts.”
