Indian Women Engineering University Students Create Blockchain-Based System for Online Voting

Indian Students from a women engineering university created a blockchain-backed online voting system.

On Oct. 21, The Hindu BusinessLine reported that three computer science students from Malla Reddy Engineering College for Women have created a ‘smart voting system’ where users can cast their votes online.

The impetus behind the idea is to eliminate voting challenges in urban areas like long queues at polling centers.

The system was tested in gated communities- a residential community with shared amenities. It was reportedly proven to be very safe as it’s backed by blockchain technology while demonstrating resistance to tampering.

Meanwhile, Japan now makes it legal for politicians to use cryptocurrency donations to fund election campaigns in the country. It’s been reported that crypto donations are legal although it is illegal to accept other forms of donations.
