Lionel Messi, the football superstar, has joined the Fantasy Football nonfungible token (NFT) trading game Sorare as an ambassador.
It has been reported that the news confirms that Messi, the PSG and Argentina footballer, will help Sorare set new standards for connecting fans and players. In addition to his new ambassador role, Messi is also now an investor in Sorare after taking an equity stake in Sorare as part of the deal.
However, Messi is one of the most popular football players in the world, and many consider him the greatest footballer ever. He is one of the most iconic figures in football history and even has record seven Ballon d’Or awards. Now, Messi is joining the web3 space and taking on a new ambassador role.
Nicolas Julia, the chief executive of Sorare, said:
“We are incredibly excited and proud to have Lionel Messi join us as in Sorare. We created Sorare because we are, first and foremost, football fans, so to have one of the game’s greatest ever players join us for the next stage of our journey truly is a dream come true.”
The report said that as part of the deal, Sorare and Messi will work together. They aim to develop new features and improve user experience on the platform. Furthermore, Messi has recently opened his own investment firm. This focuses on sports, media, and technology, which is a perfect fit for Sorare.
The World Cup 2022 Qatar starts next week, and Sorare is launching a game to celebrate the occasion. Sorare: Global Cup 22 is a free-to-play game. Users can create teams of eight from eighteen officially-licensed national teams.
