Thailand Launches ‘Amazing Thailand NFTs’ For Tourists

Thailand has launched ‘Amazing Thailand NFTs’, a nonfungible token (NFT) experience for tourists visiting the country.

It has been reported that officially created by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the NFTs will encourage people to discover major cultural landmarks across the Southeast Asian country.

However, to claim these NFTs, people must travel to these five locations, which include the Ancient City of Samut Prakan. There are 3,999 NFTs at each location, and participants have until December 14 to collect them. Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with over 35 million people visiting each year. The country has remarkable beaches, brilliant foods, historic temples, and vibrant nightlife.

The report said that it is a destination on every traveler’s wishlist! Tourism is a huge industry, and this is another example of how web3 technology is helping to connect people and places in different ways. Now, the country is using NFTs to help people explore some of its most important cultural sites and gain a deeper understanding of the nation’s history. There are five locations to visit where you can collect awesome NFTs. The locations are China Town, Siam Square, the Ancient City in Samut Prakan, Wat Arun, and Giant Swing.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said:

“This Amazing Thailand NFTs brings our NFT products – Nature to keep, Food to explore, and Thainess to discover – into actual trips and offers new experiences in line with the ‘Visit Thailand Year 2022-2023: Amazing New Chapters’ campaign. The initiative is also part of the drive to create a ‘new tourism ecosystem’ towards a more sustainable industry.”

Likewise, participants must download the YAKS application on Android or iOS and scan the QR code available at each location to collect the NFTs. There are also NFTs to unlock at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.

There is also a gaming element to the Amazing Thailand NFTs. Because there are only 3,999 NFTs available, there is a race to reach each site and collect each one. Finally, those who collect three NFTs can unlock deals, discounts, and free experiences across the country.

Thus, the new initiative is a huge turnaround in how Thailand views web3 technology. Last year, Thailand issued new legislation that banned NFT trading.
